Baffin Island Rainbow
We left Labrador and crossed to Baffin Island in mostly foggy conditions. Fog is common in summer, when SE and E winds picking up a lot of moisture from the Labrador Sea.
Growler
Growlers are small pieces of ice–too small to pick up on radar, and too small to see from very far away if there are waves. Growlers are named for the sound made by the hull scraping against them if hit.

From left to right, myself, Lucas, Yvonne and Sarah. We are going over the route north of Nain with Lucas and his wife Sarah. Yvonne, who set up the meeting, did the translating. Lucas was originally from the Quebec side of the northern Labrador peninsula (Ungava Bay), and has travelled the coast extensively, on both boats and snowmobiles.
